Interstate Power Systems is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Outside Sales Representative to support and grow our business throughout the Cheyenne, Wyoming market and surrounding territory. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer relationships, and driving sales growth with a strong emphasis on parts sales, inventory management solutions, and aftermarket support.

The ideal candidate will have experience in parts operations, inventory management, heavy-duty truck or diesel equipment parts sales, along with a proven ability to build long-term customer relationships and identify opportunities to expand business. This position requires regular travel throughout the territory and close collaboration with our Parts, Service, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on parts, service, and aftermarket sales.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet managers, maintenance managers, owner-operators, municipalities, contractors, and industrial customers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Promote Interstate Power Systems’ extensive parts offerings for heavy-duty trucks, diesel engines, power generation systems, and industrial equipment.
  • Analyze customer parts usage and inventory practices to recommend stocking programs and inventory management solutions.
  • Assist customers in reducing downtime through proactive parts support and inventory planning.
  • Collaborate with branch Parts and Service Departments to provide complete solutions that meet customer operational needs.
  • Conduct customer visits, facility audits, and inventory reviews to identify growth opportunities.
  • Provide quotations, pricing recommendations, and follow-up support throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, and pipeline information within the CRM system.
  • Represent Interstate Power Systems at customer events, trade shows, industry meetings, and community functions.
  • Stay informed of market trends, competitive activity, product updates, and industry developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of outside sales experience in heavy-duty truck, diesel engine, power generation, industrial equipment, or related industries.
  • Strong background in parts sales, inventory management, purchasing, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience working with customers to optimize parts inventory levels and improve equipment uptime.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and grow existing accounts.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organization and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy-duty truck, construction equipment, power generation, or industrial engine markets.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine components, drivetrain systems, power generation equipment, and aftermarket parts.
  • Experience analyzing inventory performance, parts usage trends, and stocking strategies.
  • Familiarity with Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, MTU, Allison Transmission, or other major industry manufacturers.
  • Prior experience managing a sales territory and working independently.
